Cellist, Cello Instructor, Founder of Melodies Heavenly Strings
Fang Shen
Fang Shen is a Cello instructor teaching in the Mckinney ISD since 2017 . She was a Visiting Professor and Guest Musician in the Music Department of Southern Utah University with such major responsibilities as teaching the Master Cello Class, Performing with SUU String Ensemble and Orchestra and doing Research in Cello- Teaching and Music Education in 2014-2016.

Born in the city of Wuhan, China. Fang Shen began her formal music studies and training at the Middle School Attached to Wuhan Conservatory of Music, at the age of 12.

After her graduation she has been working at Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra for over 12 years as an Associate Professor and Association Principal Cello.

Get to Know
Fang Shen has over 20 years of experience in Concert Performance and Cello Teaching. During her years serving in Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra 2002-2014, she has participated in such influential performances. The excellent performance of Mrs.Shen in her personal Cello Recital in Wuhan in 2012 has earned her the invitation and been interviewed by Hubei Music Radio Station about her Recital and her Music Career. In 2014 when her life began in the United States, she held her first Personal Recital in Cedar City where she teaches. Years of her efforts has made her the Gold Medal Winner of Professional Musician’s Orchestra Competition in 2012 and excellent teacher of the year in 2009,2011 and 2013. She is now a Chinese Musicians’ Association Judge Certificate holder.
In Shen Fang's more than 20 years of teaching, she has performed countless student concerts for her students. Student concerts have been held in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively.
At the same time, her students have achieved outstanding results.
She makes her Cello lessons fun while still focusing on important musical details to help the students maximize their learning abilities. Her current and former students have won awards in the Tchaikovsky Music and the Ai Qin Bei Cello competitions for Youth Musicians in China. At the same time, her former students have gone on to be accepted as a Bachelor of Music with Honors in the Royal Northern College of Music, Royal College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire in England. After she moved to Texas and began working for the McKinney School District, many of her students made GDYO, DAYYO, GNTYO, All-Region, and All-State orchestra auditions.
